Kelly is offering Outschool classes for ages 9 to 15, about food waste and food security. Kelly is a former farmer (14 years dairy, and 10 years in small-scale hay and beef), has two degrees investigating global food systems, and worked as Education Coordinator for a major food security research centre. Kelly is passionate about helping people understand our food, agriculture, and waste systems.
Food and agriculture affects all of us, and we all affect food and agriculture. As such, Kelly's goal is to help people get access to objective, evidence-based information about these topics. Given that young people are best placed as change-makers to improve the food system of the future, Kelly is particularly interested in supporting their learning on food and sustainability. She works with young people's natural curiosity around food and farming to help them engage with and learn about food systems, and topics of hunger, waste, and environmental sustainability that are intertwined.
